78 boats registered in total for this years International Budapest Cup Regatta. Racing in 3 divisions the teams will conquer the Danube in the centre of Budapest.
13 women quads and new record of 65 eights. In total this means 632 seats rowed in the event. Many rowers mostly form Hungarian & Austrian clubs are doing the 4500 meter long course multiple times. The youngest rowers were born in 2003 and 1949.
The Budapest Cup Regatta is the largest international regatta in Hungary. Crews from 12 countries entered the the event.
The event is part of the Capital Cup Regatta series – connecting Zagreb (Eights on the Sava), Budapest (Budapest Cup regatta) and Vienna (Wienerachter). From the season of 2017/2018 also Prague (Head of Prague) will connect to the series. Teams must take part in at least 2 regattas of 3 collecting points and winning the Capital Cup. The Cup was won yet two times by Győr Atlétikai Club (Hungary), and is lead by HAVK Mladost (Zagreb) for this year.

Boat allocations 2017 Budapest Cup Regatta
Jean-Christophe Rolland (Fisa President), Annamarie Phelps (British Rowing President) and Horst Nussbaumer (Austrian Rowing Federation) will be honorable guest to the Regatta, the Hungarian Rowing Association and the organiser the Danubius National Boating Club.
On March 31st the organsisers will host a Gala Dinner at the InterContinental Budapest to celebrate the start of the rowing season.
